Before the rain the peonies were perfect.
Before the deluge the roses were pristine,
The lawn was trim and the slugs asleep,
But after the storm, in the snail slimed, dripping quiet,
The perfume was divine.

Lovely peonies. The slugs and snails have demolished my poor hostas, and I bought blue varieties because I’d read they were less appealing.

I have given up with hostas completely. There are lots of lovely things to grow that they dont eat so much! 🌼🌼

You need some hedgehogs to eat the slugs and snails. Beautiful poem and pics. I love a garden after the rain – that’s also when he blackbirds sing!

There are two hedgehogs already, but nothing can keep up with the slugs when it rains!

Terrific photos.
I introduced nematodes to our veg garden this week to fight slugs that have devastated our leafy greens. Has anyone here tried slug nematodes and have they worked for you?

Not tried them yet. I try hard to grow things they don’t eat like rucola and red lettuce and beetrootleaves
